Running Hill Repeats

My favourite training session is running hill repeats (also known as fartlek). This involves:

  1. Warming up for 1 mile
  2. Finding a steep long hill
  3. Running as fast as you can for a set time
  4. Walking/jogging back down to where you started
  5. Repeating the same for a set number of times
  6. Cool down for 1 mile

I'm currently doing 12 x 40 seconds. If you are not used to these you might want to start with fewer repeats and for shorter duration.
